Peer recommendation search – a prediction?

May 30, 2009

Marketing has moved from marketing at, to marketing with. We all know that word of mouth rules, especially when that word comes from our closest friends, family and colleagues.

Since we first started pitching Youmeo.com to investors, I haven’t shut up about how the web will move more towards “peer based content”. Of course there are various sites that exist that have done parts of this for a long time, such as Digg and the introduction of Facebook’s “Your friends are also fans of this page.”

The obvious ultimate website to pick this up, and really drive it into the main-stream is Google.

It seems within the last few months, Google have been toying with various search options, one includes pushing search results higher and adding comments, an example below:

Surely with the invention of Google Connect and Facebook Connect we will soon be seeing our friend’s recommendations above results that belong to strangers? Hopefully this is the end goal?

We shall see.
